Please read the information below before you select a schedule at the bottom.

Home School and Private School students may sign up for class at a public high school as long as you can arrive on time each day.

Requirements:

  • You must be at least 14 years and 6 months on the first day of class.
  • You must currently be enrolled in a high school or middle school in Wake County (public, private or Home School) or be a Wake County resident currently enrolled in a high school or middle school (such as an out of the area boarding school).
  • This must be the first time that you have taken Driver Education in North Carolina.
  • To sign up for an after-school class, you must follow the guidelines for registration at your high school.
  • For after-school classes at your high school, turn the completed form in to the Lead Teacher for driver education at your school. There may be a Driver Education box at the office. If you have questions, email the Lead Teacher. The Lead Teacher’s name and email address for each school are on the LEAD TEACHER page listed by school.
  •   You must pay the $45 fee to register for class.  If you pay online, remember to write your payment order number on the registration form.

To sign up for class at a location other than a high school, or for class at a school other than the school you attend, follow the directions listed under the class name.  You must be able to arrive on time each day, and you must attend all scheduled dates. State Law requires the entire 30 hours of class. Be sure to indicate which class and school on the form.
  •  A printable registration form is available on the FORMS page.  If you have questions, contact the Lead Teacher for that school or class or contact the Jordan Driving School office.

THE DRIVING PHASE (Behind the wheel):
Approximately 6 weeks after successful completion of the classroom, a driving instructor will call you to schedule your 6 hours of Behind-The-Wheel. The Lead Teacher at the High School assigns students to their driving instructor. If you have questions regarding Behind-The-Wheel, contact your Lead Teacher. We do not provide transportation; students meet the teacher at the school and must be picked up at the school after the driving class is over for the day. REMEMBER, WE DO NOT DRIVE WITH ONE STUDENT.

YOUR ATTENDANCE AT EACH DRIVING SESSION IS VERY IMPORTANT.

IF ONE STUDENT DOES NOT SHOW UP, THE OTHER ONE CANNOT DRIVE.

THE FOLLOWING SCHEDULES ARE FOR THE 30 HOUR CLASSROOM PHASE:

Additional classes are Private/HomeSchool, Charter School and school break or Saturday class at public high schools.
